Current Projects
2020 brought so much uncertainty for all of us. 2021 made us realize that so much of what we worried about is not worth the energy. I personally fought some internal battles that I never expected to. Halfway through 2021 I realized that I wanted to put positive effort in to literally anything. So Death By Throttle was born. Initially I just wanted to make shirts that I liked. As I started working on the brand, I decided that I wanted to try and build more than that. I’m adding more shirts, hats, patches, stickers, banners, etc. Then I realized that not only did I want to do more, but I was capable of more.
Then I started reflecting and remembering things that I used to love and enjoy. Not many people know that I went to school for 3D modeling and Animation. Didn’t care for the animation side. I thought it was ok but overall, boring as hell. But the 3D side was always fun. This was my artistic medium that I understood and enjoyed learning more and more about.
So how can I use this productively. I started making designs relevant to the brand, in 3D . Keychains, jewelry, trinkets and such. Then one day I made a grip for shits and giggles. It hit me, this was my thing I wanted to figure out how to do. I want to make grips. Its how I can merge my love of motorcycles and 3D modeling and make something cool. So I started designing and prototyping grips.
Holy shit this was a painful process.
Learning all of this has been a struggle. Figuring out how I can make these correctly has been a struggle. Trying to figure out how I can make something quality has been a struggle.
But holy shit. I finally got a mold working and testing it out today, 1/6/2022. I 3D printed multiple pieces to a custom mold I made to try and make my first grip. No pictures of that yet because it looks like an absolute piece of garbage. But I’m so close. That satisfaction of being so close to something is unreal.
So for now. Thats my update. 2020-2021 sucked pretty hard. I’m going to do my best to make sure my 2022 doesnt suck near as bad. Death By Throttle is in the early stages of making something cool. I’m using this winter season to build it. I’m hoping to have prototypes finished by February. And start producing by March.
Disclaimer: This is not a promise that I am going to even be able to do this. More or less an idea that I am trying extremely hard to figure out. If anything, its just a heads up that I’m working on this but in case I completely fuck it up, thats why I don’t have any for sale. For now, none of them will be for sale on the website if I can do this. They will be event exclusives and friends only. I mean, lets be real, if you are even still reading this bullshit, you are probably a friend of mine, so you are included in that. Aside of seeing pictures of them on Instagram, they will be first revealed at Backroad this year.
Keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, start prepping your bikes dudes. Living on two wheels is how we stay sane this year.
